The DLG Supervisor Program for July focuses on two critical First Amendment issues facing today’s law enforcement leaders: operational decision-making in public encounters and employee speech on social media.
Supervisors are often responsible for translating constitutional principles into real-world guidance for officers, command staff, and agency personnel. This course provides practical legal instruction on public recording, demonstrations, speech, assembly, officer discipline, social media conduct, and the policies agencies need to reduce liability and protect public trust.
Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how First Amendment issues impact supervision, training, internal investigations, and agency operations.
