It is essential for officers to understand the need for high standards of ethical and moral behavior both on and off duty. The course will cover topics such as code of conduct, legal standards, and accountability. Additionally, the module will focus on lying as a public policy and the Brady/Giglio requirements for police departments.

This course will also focus on the following areas:

  • Defining the terms “ethics” and “professionalism.”
  • Identifying how immoral conduct by an officer adversely affects the officer’s performance of official duties.
  • Identifying the rights of law enforcement officers and their relevance to appropriate professional behavior.
