Welcome to the Digital Evidence Decoded: Changing How You See Every Case training course. This seminar provided officers and investigators with a structured approach to identifying, validating, organizing, and using digital evidence in modern criminal investigations. Participants were introduced to behavioral fusion, an investigative discipline designed to reconstruct human behavior over time by integrating digital evidence, pattern-of-life information, environmental context, investigative insight, and a defined evidentiary structure. The session examined how the digital shift has changed investigations, requiring officers to proactively identify evidence across devices, networks, cloud-based systems, cellular records, video, and other digital sources. Participants also learned how to validate individual digital artifacts, corroborate evidence across multiple systems, distinguish between investigative and crime timelines, document contradictory information, and conduct peer reviews early in an investigation. Emphasis was placed on developing defensible investigative conclusions that can withstand scrutiny from the initial investigation through prosecution and appeal.
This course will also focus on areas including:
- Behavioral fusion, the five categories of evidence, and methods for validating and corroborating digital artifacts.
- Pattern-of-life analysis, evidence inventories, investigative and crime timelines, documentation, peer review, and the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence on digital investigations.
Our training experts recommend this course for all officers, ranks, and command staff.
