Supervisor: SCOTUS Summary

In this month’s module, we delved into the complexities surrounding freedom of speech and its boundaries, particularly in relation to menacing threats. Using the landmark Supreme Court case, Counterman v. Colorado, as our guide, we explored how threats are defined, especially in today’s digital era where anonymity often provides a veil. The discussion also examined the balance between the subjective intent of the speaker and the objective viewpoint of a reasonable person, contemplating which should be given more legal significance when determining a threat.
